Shopping for Burlesque Costumes Online, March 2025

Above: me in a costume I made by gluing appliques to a vintage bra.

This morning I posted a request on Instagram and Facebook for links to sites where people can buy ready-to-ship burlesque costumes and pasties, in an effort to help students quickly acquire costume pieces. Since there isn't really a "burlesque store," most of the people who responded are, as one might expect, individual creators who also make custom items. The folks I've listed in this post were all recommended! If you're a maker or have a recommendation, you can comment with your own or others' links using the guidelines at the end of this article.

For the list below, I chose the ones where it was easy for me to figure out how to order immediately. I put an asterisk next to those from whom I've already got items and can therefore personally recommend the quality of their work.
Be sure to read reviews when available.
If you want to see even more responses, click here and here.
Enjoy exploring!

The benefit of items that are specifically made by people who know how to make functional burlesque costumes is that they tend to be sturdy and easy to remove.

People often ask me where they can go to get ready-made burlesque costumes. I can't think of such a store, which is why we shop online or at festivals. (Still, many costume and adult stores in big cities have plenty of items that can be assembled into a stage-worthy outfit, if you're so inclined.)

If you add a comment here, students will see it! Describe a few things you sell, if they are immediately available, and THEN let them know if you do custom work. This blog post is what I'm sharing with them. I'm not sharing my own IG posts or FB posts with them because I'm shadowbanned on social media and occasionally get kicked off. However, your own IG or FB links are welcome here in the comments! My biggest marketing tip for you is to prove a link they can click or copy and paste, because PEOPLE WILL NOT SEARCH FOR YOU when they can get to someone else sooner. Make it easy to find your wares!
